EL VERBO “TENER”

Tener – to have – is one of the most common irregular Spanish verb. In the simple present tense, tener is used just like the English verb “to have”.

Conjugation is as follows:

Yo ————- tengo

Tú ————–tienes

Él/ella/usted ———— tiene

Nosotros/ nosotras ————- tenemos

Vosotros/ vosotras —————- tenéis

Ellos/ellas/ustedes —————-   tienen

Ejemplos:

1. Tengo muchos amigos. (I have many friends)
2. Él tiene 20 años. (He is 20 years old)

Note: When we talk about “age” we always use verb “tener” instead of “ser”.
